I bring 15 years of experience in the IT industry, with my career deeply rooted in DevOps and related engineering domains. Throughout these years, I have consistently worked in build, release, automation, CI/CD, cloud, and platform engineering roles, and I remain strongly committed to this domain with the same passion and dedication for the years ahead.
I hold industry-recognized certifications including Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Docker Certified Associate (DCA), and Associate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect.
In my view, DevOps has become an overused term in today’s software industry. Having closely witnessed the evolution of this space over many years, I believe DevOps is neither a new technology nor a completely new process. Rather, it is the natural outcome of the software industry maturing. As systems grew in complexity and scale, earlier practices evolved into more efficient models, giving rise to modern approaches such as DevOps, Agile methodologies, and Microservices architectures, all of which are better suited to today’s delivery needs.
My professional journey began in 2006, after completing my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication, when I joined Rishi Systems, a Bangalore-based startup and IBM channel partner. There, I worked on product development and services, gained hands-on experience with IBM tools, delivered customer training, and implemented automation using Perl, along with tools such as Rational ClearCase and Rational Test RealTime.
In 2007, I joined Siemens India Pvt. Ltd. as a Build & Release Engineer, where I gained deep exposure to build and release engineering for both legacy and new products. This role strengthened my expertise in version control, automation scripting, and CI/CD practices. It was during this period (around 2008–2009) that I began working with Jenkins (formerly Hudson), marking my formal entry into continuous integration and delivery.
After nearly 3.5 years at Siemens, I moved to Philips India Ltd. in 2011, where I spent seven years working across multiple business units and diverse technology stacks. My work ranged from TFS (now Azure DevOps) implementation and customization to designing and standardizing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins. I was also a key contributor to a major DevOps initiative called “Atlantis”, which focused on decomposing a large monolithic codebase into independently releasable modules, significantly improving build performance. During this time, I also worked on Docker and Kubernetes POCs, including containerizing analytics products.
In 2018, I joined Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., where I worked on an in-house CI/CD and build ecosystem developed using PHP. I played a key role in maintaining and enhancing these internal tools, introduced Ansible for build-server configuration management, and later led the migration of build infrastructure and CI/CD workflows to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Additionally, I implemented a Prometheus and Grafana–based monitoring solution for an internal QA framework.
Alongside my professional responsibilities, I have remained committed to continuous learning and knowledge sharing. I pursued formal training in Docker and Kubernetes, built sample applications to demonstrate container workflows, conducted internal team training sessions, and delivered external training for a startup. This learning journey led to achieving the Docker Certified Associate certification in November 2020, followed by the OCI Associate Architect certification in April 2021, and the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification in January 2022.
My career began as a Build & Release Engineer at a time when such roles were not widely understood or recognized. Today, DevOps is a mainstream concept across the industry. Greater clarity around what DevOps truly represents, who DevOps professionals are within an organization, and the scope of their responsibilities can significantly benefit teams and enterprises alike. As organizations continue to mature in their DevOps adoption, this clarity naturally emerges.
I am enthusiastic about being part of this evolving landscape. With years of hands-on experience and a diverse technical skill set, I view DevOps as a vast and ever-expanding domain—one that continuously presents new challenges and learning opportunities, which I embrace with pride as a DevOps professional.
